About Me

 My Background

I am a civil engineer in training (EIT). I currently work
for a great engineering firm located in Québec, QC. I have two years of field
experience, in project management. Now, I am co-designing wood, steel and
concrete structural components for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Outside of really loving what I do, I also have a passion
for entrepreneurship, success, and overall quality of work. I like learning,
brainstorming, and sharing business insights and ideas with other like-minded
individuals. And for that reason, one of my favourite ways to build
relationships is to enjoy a lunch or a diner with potential clients or already
successful people.

On another tangent, one of my hobbies is working out.
Training is great for my mind and my network. I made some really valuable
friends from training partners, and I definitively increase my productivity by
doing so. And therefore, I recommend people around me to work out at least 3
times a week.

Before I started taking some actions, I didn’t know what
I was doing. During my three years at Cégep Beauce-Appalaches, I never tried
anything outside the scope of my study. I was an average guy. I worked in a bar
on nights and weekends, and I was chasing women more actively than I was
chasing good grades. Now, I change my focus towards excellence, and it
started paying back.

That said, I do not have a lot of friends. The reason is
that I don’t like talking and bitching about other people’s life. Personally, I
prefer people who discuss opportunities and ideas instead of gossips about a
friend of a friend or neighbour’s late-night meal, girls, or activities. Bla…bla…bla…

Since the beginning of 2021, I really started focusing my
free time on learning more about real estate and private placements. Right now,
my objective is to provide great quality content while having fun. I do it by
working for one of the greatest engineering firms I know and by focusing all my
free time to build my business. The only thing I miss is sharing my skills and
knowledge with others.

This site is built for this exact purpose. I want to
share my knowledge and the best opportunities I can find with ambitious persons
just like you. Therefore, I hope you will find value and start implementing
what you learn here towards your goals.

The engineer’s Background

My engineering background has forced my mindset to
work differently. I think there is a reason why a lot of successful
entrepreneurs have an engineering background. The reason I suspect is their
mindset. Engineers are trained to look at difficult situations and to find
quick and effective solutions.

However, engineers are not necessarily brighter than
the average joe and jane. They are just applying systematic procedures when
looking at difficult situations. And, as we know systematization is one of the
most effective ways of increasing accuracy and productivity.

Essentially, the mindset I mentioned earlier is the
ability to look at every situation in your life and dissected the problem into
multiple smaller and easier parts. By doing that you can identify more evident
problems and provide specific solutions. Once you did that, you combine each
and every step and build the final solution.

For example, it is as simple as eating a steak.
When you got a beefsteak on your plate, do you try to swallow it all in one
piece? No, of course not. You start by cutting it into smaller pieces and then
you eat it one bite at a time… Problem solved!

For the same reason, a civil engineer won’t design
an apartment building by solving one big entity. He will start by determining
the loads, the beams, slab and columns distribution. After he will understand
each part’s requirements and solve one part at a time. In the end, he will
combine every part and conclude with a complete apartment building design.

That is the mindset I am grateful for. I never
realized how traditional education would help me in my life before I decided to
start a business. Now that I am doing it, I can finally consider my education
as an investment rather than a financial and time waste.

Short Recommendation

In my learning journey, I discovered some incredible tools. And for that matter, I strongly recommend following the BiggerPockets Podcast, reading their books, and by far, the tool that helps me the most is the Best Ever Apartment Syndication Book by Joe Fairless.

I look forward to future collaborations.

Sincerely,

David
